ISLAMABAD: The Bank of Punjab (BoP), Zong and Inov8, a technology and consulting solutions provider, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to digitise government flows through branchless banking, the provision of financial services through neighbourhood retail shops.

Speaking at the occasion, BoP President Naeemuddin Khan said his bank was pleased to sign the MoU to extend financial services to the grass-roots level of the population, a press release said.

KARACHI (PR): BOP, Zong and Inov8 signed an MoU to announce their partnership for digitizing government flows via the branchless channel. Branchless Banking is the provision of financial services through neighborhood retail shops whereby the financial services are offered to the unbanked population at their doorsteps.

This is a first of its kind arrangement wherein service providers with existing market experience are coming together to provide the services which are aimed at poverty alleviation and financial inclusion of the under privileged masses.
There are 2 areas to focus for successful implementation: i) The Technology ii) The Agent Network (distribution side). BoP has entered into an MoU with Zong and Inov8 as both organizations have local market presence, expertise and existing experience which they aim to bring together to build synergies for best service offering. KARACHI: JS Bank Limited (JSBL) and Inov8 Limited (i8) have signed an agreement for the implementation of a Branchless Banking and Mobile Financial Services solution.

JSBL President, Khalid Imran, said, “I believe that the mobile technology has become an extremely important mass outreach platform for the delivery of banking services.”

Inov8’ CEO, Hasnain A. Sheikh, said, “We are very excited to be setting out in this new partnership with JS Bank where they will be using a customised version of Inov8’s next generation MFS platform.”

JS Bank plans to enter into the branchless banking domain of the countryby developing a large agent networkby partnering with network providers, telecom and other companies to deliver a unique set of transactions and services that are currently not available to the un-banked segment of our society.

LAHORE: Induction of next generation spectrum data services 3G/4G will bring a huge change in the information and communication industry of Pakistan, ultimately leading to new economic activity.

The economic impact of the 3G/4G technology is much higher than the auction price fetched by the government of Pakistan. The experts of the various data services dependent industry believe that in the first year of the technology, the impact could be more than $2 billion, while a double digit growth is expected on every tear in the data services dependent industries of Pakistan.

The fast speed mobile data will also be helpful in developing the underdeveloped mobile application industry of Pakistan once the ecosystem is developed. The next generation data services will increase internet penetration in Pakistan and the number of internet users would also jump exponentially, increasing sales and usage of mobile smartphones, demand of local internet content and mobile applications.
